NoSurf — a watchdog for the sites you swore off
Android: in the works
01What it is
Visit a site you swore off — and it costs you.
Register the sites you've decided to quit, and your iPhone watches for access. NoSurf doesn't forcibly stop your browsing — instead, in any month you visit one, the self-commitment amount you set is charged at month-end. Not willpower. The weight of your own money.
02How it works
Deleting a registered site takes effect at noon the next day. Account cancellation takes effect 7 days after the request. By design — so your weakest moment can't undo your strongest decision.
03Pricing
Registration is $0. If you don't visit a registered site within the month, you pay $0.
Only in a month you visit one, your self-commitment amount ($50–$500 / ¥5,000–¥50,000, set by you at registration) is charged at month-end. Up to 5 sites are free; a Pro subscription ($10/mo, ¥980/mo in Japan) is required from the 6th site.
04FAQ
- Q. Can I remove a registered site at any time?
- Not instantly. You can request deletion, but it takes effect at noon the next day. Account cancellation takes effect 7 days after the request. This is by design — so your weakest moment can't undo your strongest decision.
- Q. Can it detect every kind of browsing?
- No — and we'd rather be honest about it. NoSurf watches site visits that go through your iPhone's standard browsing path, such as Safari. Some specialized browsers, in-app browsing inside social apps, and access from other devices are out of scope.
- Q. Does the app collect my personal information?
- No email address, name, or home address is required. The site names you register are transmitted only in hashed (SHA-256) form — we never see the original names. We do not collect your browsing history either.
- Q. When exactly am I charged?
- Only in a month you visit (attempt to access) a registered site — the self-commitment amounts for the sites you visited that month are charged in total at month-end. If you never visit, you pay nothing, no matter how many months you use the app.
- Q. What happens if I switch phones?
- There is no account-transfer feature (this is by design). Simply register again on your new device.
- Q. Does it work on Android?
- Currently available for iPhone, and an Android version is in the works. On Android today, check out NoDial — it makes the numbers you swore off truly uncallable.
