International Call Blocking
NoDial Editorial / 2026-10-06International call blocking stops outgoing calls to numbers in a country other than your own, with a list of countries you choose to still allow. Turning it on or off is immediate — there's no one-hour wait here. It's included from the Premium plan and up.
1. How NoDial decides "international"
NoDial compares the country of the number you're dialing against your phone's own country — not the dialing code, the actual country. Your phone's country normally comes from your SIM; if that's unavailable it falls back to your mobile network, then your device's language/region setting. On a dual-SIM phone, it uses whichever SIM the call is actually going out on.
A few places that share a calling code with a larger country, like Puerto Rico with the United States or Jersey with the United Kingdom, are treated as domestic to each other, not international — NoDial compares countries, not just the digits of the code.
2. Turning it on
The screen is titled "Stop international calls": "Calls to numbers in other countries are blocked so you don't get charged by mistake. 'Other country' means any country other than your SIM's." A single switch, "Block international calls," turns the whole feature on or off — immediately, in both directions.
3. Choosing countries to allow
Underneath, an "Allowed countries" list starts empty: "None yet. When enabled, calls to every other country are blocked." Tap "+ Add a country" to search by name or dialing code and add as many as you like — there's no cap on how many countries you can allow. With none added, the status reads "Blocking calls to every other country"; with some added, it reads "Allowed: [list]."
4. Also blocking calls home while abroad
A second switch, off by default: "Also stop calls to my home country while abroad" — "While roaming, calls to your SIM's country are treated as international too. Nothing is stopped when there's no signal." This switch is only usable while the main feature itself is on.
"Abroad" here means your phone is currently connected to a mobile network in a different country than your SIM's — true roaming, not just your physical location. If there's no signal, or you're on Wi-Fi calling with no mobile network connected, NoDial has no way to know you're abroad, so nothing extra is blocked in that case.
5. If a call gets blocked
When a call home is blocked while you're abroad, the block screen explains why — "You're abroad, so calls to your home country are stopped too" — with a button, "Allow calls home while abroad," right there. Tapping it turns the switch from section 4 off for good, the same as doing it from the settings screen; it isn't a one-time allowance for that single call.
6. Plan requirement
International call blocking is included from Premium and up — Premium, Premium Plus, and Premium Unlimited all have it; it isn't limited to the top tier. See Plans and what each unlocks for the full picture, including the separate per-number count each tier allows.
