Notifications and Settings, Explained
NoDial Editorial / 2026-10-06A quick reference for every notification NoDial can send, and everything on the Settings screen: your nickname, plan, language, the number that stays free if Premium lapses, and how to close your account.
1. Notifications you may see
- "Call blocked" — the standard notification right after an outgoing call is stopped. If the number has a memo, it names it: "Blocked a call to [memo] ([number])."
- Call-limit reached — "[number]: call limit reached. You can call again from [time]."
- Block All active — "All outgoing calls are blocked. Tap to see details," or, with allowed numbers set up, "...You can still call your allowed numbers."
- International call blocked — "International call to [place] blocked. Tap for options."
- "Confirm before calling" ("Tap to open") — the fallback notification described in Confirm before calling, for when Android won't let the confirm screen open directly.
- "Call blocking is disabled" ("Please re-enable NoDial's permission") — NoDial noticed its permission was revoked; see Troubleshooting.
- "Couldn't add that number" — a number you added locally couldn't be registered because it was over your free-plan limit by the time it reached the server; it's removed and you're notified so you're not left thinking it's protected when it isn't.
A few other occasional notices exist too — reminders if you haven't added a number yet, and account notices if Premium lapses or your plan changes and some numbers get paused as a result.
2. Nickname
An optional name, up to 20 characters: "Used to verify your identity when you contact support." It isn't used anywhere else in the app.
3. Plan
Shows your current plan, with upgrade buttons for the next tiers you don't already have, and a "Manage or cancel in Google Play" button that opens Google Play's own subscription management for NoDial. See Plans and what each unlocks for what each tier includes.
4. Language
NoDial supports 22 languages. Pick one directly, or choose "Follow device setting" to match your phone's own language automatically. Changing it applies immediately — the screen you're on simply redraws in the new language, with no restart needed.
5. Number to keep on the free plan
This row only appears once you have 2 or more numbers registered: "The number that keeps being blocked if you cancel Premium." Pick whichever one matters most to you; if you never choose, it defaults to the first number you registered. The rest pause when Premium ends and reactivate the moment you resubscribe.
6. Switching devices and notification permission
A "Switching devices" row opens NoDial's explanation of what carries over to a new phone and what doesn't — covered fully in Changing phones. A separate "Notifications" row shows whether OS notification permission is on, with a way to turn it on if it isn't — without it, you won't see any of the notifications in section 1.
7. Legal and rating
Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links, plus "Rate NoDial," which opens NoDial's own listing on Google Play.
8. Closing your account
At the very bottom, "Close account" opens a two-step confirmation: "Delete your account? This immediately deletes your account and all your data. This cannot be undone." If you're currently on a paid plan, NoDial adds a specific warning — "Your Google Play subscription is not canceled automatically. After closing your account, cancel it from Google Play subscription management" — with a button to go straight there. A checkbox confirming you understand must be checked before the final "Delete" button is enabled. Once confirmed, deletion is immediate: your numbers, rules, memos, and account are all gone right away, and this can't be undone.
